As with the Greek verb poieo, the Hebrew verb asah is used frequently and is correctly translated in a number of similar ways. For instance, the word asah can mean to make or form or it can, via the context, simply mean to do or dealt. Although all sixty-three verses are included below, because of the various nuances of meaning, not all are uses directly applicable to the New Testament: phrase kurios poieo. The verses that seem to relate most directly are given as examples before the listing of the sixty-three.

 

Significantly, when the Lord dealt, or wrought (asah), with a Sarah, the phrase referred to the blessings of reproduction. Hence, Jehovah's dealings with a woman could include bearing good, healthy, children. This is the way the phrase is used in Luke 1:25. Jacob’s blessing likewise involved the blessing of continuing the Christ line in his generation.
